The Julian Shrine Artist in Residence Launch | 2pm 5 July St Julian’s Church, Norwich

Josiah English, Hospitality Manager at the All Hallows Guesthouse writes:

"Join us at 2pm on 5 July at St Julian’s church in Norwich as we mark the beginning of our collaboration with artist Debra Shipley who will be joining us as artist in residence for the next two years. Debra, a celebrated artist now based in Norwich whose ‘Bowls in a Fragile World’ have been exhibited across the UK, has a close connection with the Julian Shrine and is producing a monthly series of exclusive art pieces for display at St Julian’s, created as a positive response to change as St Julian’s embarks on a significant building restoration project which will see this internationally important place of pilgrimage and English literary history renovated and restored for the next generation."

This launch event marks the start of our campaign to fundraise for the restoration and improvement works needed at the Shrine, including significant repairs urgently required at St Julian’s Church. Over the next two years, Debra’s monthly series of unique artworks will offer a positive complement and reflection on this process of change.

Everyone is invited to join us in July at St Julian’s Church as we launch this new collaboration with Debra Shipley, our artist in residence for the next two years.

No tickets required. To RSVP your attendance email Josiah English at  josiah.english@julianofnorwich.org

"Debra will share her thoughts as an artist on the collaboration and the methods and intentions behind it, and the launch features the first bowl of Debra's series at St Julian's, made using recycled materials from the Shrine and inspired by the life and legacy of Lady Julian. There will also be an exhibition of unique framed artworks by Debra created for the Shrine available for sale, as well as a drinks reception with tea, fizz and cake to follow."
